Most of Greenwood and the Center Grove area has become an urban deer zone for the first time ever, meaning hunters can bag more animals than usually allowed in an effort to thin the population.

Hunters can shoot 10 extra deer beyond what is typically allowed during hunting seasons, but they must follow all city ordinances, which say you can’t fire a weapon in city limits, senior conservation officer Jon Fennig said.
Greenwood does not have any public hunting grounds, and the designation does not mean you can hunt in parks or on your own property, Greenwood Assistant Police Chief Matt Fillenwarth said.
