Deer hunting Archery Season To Begin In Ohio

Ohio’s archery season for hunting white-tailed deer opens later this month with hunters reminded of hunting permit changes.

Deer hunting in Ohio

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says increased deer harvests in recent years have led to dramatic strides in many counties, bringing deer populations closer to state management goals. That has led to changes in antlerless permit use for the upcoming hunting seasons, with those permits now invalid in most counties.

Antlerless permits will remain valid in 10 counties until Nov. 29. Only one Antlerless permit may be used per county.

The archery season will be Sept. 26 through February 7. The youth gun and gun seasons begin in November with muzzleloader season scheduled for January.

Deer hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes past sunset for all seasons.
