Tests for Chronic Wasting Disease taken from a white-tailed deer in Texas have been confirmed positive, resulting in the first case in the species in one of the nation’s biggest deer hunting states.
The tests were confirmed and announced by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department officials. The deer was in Medina County and tests were done at the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL) in College Station, and the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa, confirmed the findings on June 30.
